Grocery store seasoned sweet potato fries is expensive
It all started before the recent global pandemic when we had time to cook. Making seasoned sweet potato fries ourselves never occurred to us until this day. They say necessity is the mother of invention. High prices and knowing the disadvantages of frozen food proved it right.
My husband and I decided to make ourselves this home-made sweet potato recipe one day. We were vexed at the price comparison between buying store-bought frozen sweet potatoes and making them fresh at home.
To go a little back, we used to buy frozen herb fries every now and then. We became fond of a brand that also offers sweet potatoes herb fries. The store-bought option cost $6.99 for a small bag, the only size it came in. Buying more than one of them seems ridiculous. Between the two of us, the frozen store-bought potatoes lasted barely one and a half meals. We both love sweet potato fries a great deal. Ultimately, we did away with this expensive option and decided to make our own. We peeled it, part-fried it, baked it, and then finally, froze it.
Surprisingly enough, we noticed the store-bought packet not only had a small portion but fries became too greasy after we baked it. We never thought the home-made version would taste that good. I don’t want to blow my own horn, but seriously, it was really delicious, yet another broke recipes goldmine.
Our goal was simply to make it and FREEZE IT. But let me just confess. It didn’t make it to the freezer. Because it was all gone in a couple of days. And yes, we sure bought a half of a sack of orange sweet potatoes to cook quick nutritious meals like this homemade potato wedges fried.
